Meet Crissandra - Above Knee Amputee

Crissandra is like many seasoned amputees in the fact that she has been an amputee for a long time and has experienced many challenges throughout her life as an amputee.

Throughout her many years as an amputee (since 1978), she has experienced many different types of prosthetic devices, and been exposed to many different facilities and practitioners. Those past experiences “were not good”, according to Crissandra.

Like many amputees, Crissandra found herself in a rut, continuing on the same path with facilities that struggled in helping her achieve the freedom that she had hoped for. Over time, Crissandra, like many amputees, settled and became accustomed to her poor fitting prosthesis. Crissandra found herself adapting to it. In other words, she patterned her life around her prosthesis, which had an affect on how she was living her life.

Though she struggled through the years, she continued her search for a better alternative, a higher quality of care to help her reach a higher level…a better life. Being told that she had a CHOICE in choosing her care, her facility and practitioner, made a big difference in her life. She has met many amputees that currently are facing what she faced years ago…and she has a message!

Crissandra's life as an amputee has changed dramatically. She no longer patterns her life around her prosthesis. Things she thought would have been impossible; Crissandra is now accomplishing and able to do.

Crissandra is a wonderful addition to the Fourroux Prosthetics family, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her and her family.
