Meet Ginger - Above Knee Amputee Ginger came to the point in her life where she had to make a decision. She had a strong and trusting relationship with her previous Prosthetist, but she was not able to do what she wanted because of the fit of her prosthesis. Though not an easy decision to make, Ginger knew that in order to reach the level of independence that she was striving for, that she had to make a change. “When there are things out there that are new, that are exciting then you need to seek out somebody. I think that you have to trust and feel confident with whoever is fitting your leg.” Ginger explains. “She came to us with apprehension.” says Keith Watson, CP and Owner of Fourroux Prosthetics. “Apprehension in the question of what can we do for her that no-one else could.” “It’s difficult sometimes for a patient to step back and say maybe there’s something better for me. Maybe there’s something better that’s out there, there’s someone better.” continues Keith. Today, Ginger is doing the things that she always wanted to, but never though was possible. She does volunteer work at the Symphony, and is involved in her church group. She exercises regularly by walking and by doing water aerobics about 3 times a week. All this is possible because Ginger came to a crossroads in her life where she decided to make a choice. A choice to better herself and to search out those that could assist her in that choice. She chose Fourroux, and we’re excited that she did. “Ginger is unique.” says Kim Duckett, CP and 30+ year Above Knee Amputee. “She was one of those that was like I was years ago. In the same thing year after year and thought that was all there was. She had accepted her function level.
