Meet Pam - Below Knee Amputee Pam had heard about Fourroux Prosthetics from an amputee friend that she had met prior to becoming an amputee. When Pam’s accident happened, like many amputees, she didn’t know what to expect or where to turn. She came to Fourroux Prosthetics to meet the staff and tour the facility. She decided Fourroux was the place where she wanted to get her prosthetics made. "Everybody is great." Says Pam. "I mean, these are all my friends." One valuable resource that Pam utilizes is Fourroux’s On-site Physical Therapy. “Scott, the Therapist, I call him my gatekeeper.” explains Pam. "He trained me right and he promised me if I did it the way he told me to do it, that I’d be fine." Pam realized early on that learning to walk, and walk correctly with a prosthesis takes effort. It takes working with the correct individual or group of individuals that get to know you as a person. Knowing where you are at physically, emotionally and where you’d like to go. What you’d like to do. Taking all those into consideration and then putting together a plan, a customized Prosthetic & Physical Therapy plan to get you there…as quick as possible. “All I wanted to do was shoot basketball and play ball in the backyard,” continues Pam, “and they were like, no problem.” Pam continues to excel. She plays basketball regularly and continually strives to surpass the goals set by her and the Fourroux Prosthetics staff. Fourroux Prosthetics is thrilled to have a friendship with Pam and hope that it continues to flourish in the years to come. It’s a relationship, one that we hope will be a relationship for life. |
